What is Marigold Extract ?

Marigold flower belongs to compositae family and tagetes erecta. It is an annual herb and widely planted in Heilungkiang, Jilin, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Yunnan , etc.The marigold we used comes from Yunnan province. Based on the local situation of special soil environment and lighting condition , the local marigold have characteristics like growing fast,long flowering period ,high productive capacity and adequate quality.Thus, the steady supply of raw materials, high yield and reduction of cost can be guaranteed.

Zeaxanthin is less common in the human diet-coming from certain orange and yellow fruits and vegetables.Meco-zeaxanthin is not found in the normal human diet, and is thought to originate from Lutein. The high concentrations and specific uptake of the macular carotenoids is mediated by specific binding proteins that draw them into the tissue and stabilize them.

   Studies have shown that eating lutein-and zeaxanthin-rich foods or taking supplements of these carotenoids canrestore macular pigment density, which declines with age .In fact, one such study of advanced macular degeneration patients who were taking high-dose lutein supplements(4mg or more per day) experienced "normal" levels after a few months. A Harvard-led study demonstrated that eating lutein-rich foods five days per week meant subjects were eight times less likely to develop macular degeneration compared to those who consumed the same foods just once per month.

Application of Marigold Extract :

1. Protect eyesight

1) Lutein is one of basis in lens and retina of the eye, can prevent Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), and improve eyesight.

2) Prevent blindness resulted from AMD. In 1996, USA suggested that aged people of 60-65 should reinforce Lutein 6 mg per day.

3) Protect cells against the damaging effects of free radicals and/or as a filter in light sensitive tissues such as the eye macula, lens and retina that protect eyes against UV radiation from light and computer.
